Nicholas Wilde is a man of many talents. The Bryn Mawr native speaks three languages (French, Italian and English), writes commercial scripts and screenplays, records voiceovers for commercials, studies modern Japanese martial arts and much more. He was recently recognized as a “Best of Philly” recipient for his skills as a book editor by Thumbtack.
The youngest of twelve siblings, he had a life-changing moment when he transferred from computer class to drama his final year of high school. Nicholas was finally bitten by the acting bug while in college and travelling in the south of France. Working as an activities coordinator in a small town in the French Riviera, Nicholas stood in for an injured performer and began performing the play Cabaret. He has been enthralled with theater, film and television ever since.
Nicholas discussed some of his current and recent projects with AE Live, including his work as the narrator of the audiobook “Clutch, Book One of Wrecked Earth” (CreateSpace Independent Publishing) written by author C.E.L. Welsh, who also participated in the show, via telephone. Mr. Welsh provided the audience with a lively, animated summary of the book – it made even nonfiction diehards like us want to give the audiobook a listen. According to Mr. Wilde, a book narrator doesn’t have to know the content of the book to do a good job, but that intimate knowledge of the book can help a narrator “bring the characters to life.”
